Up through track four is Dan's perspective leading up to around Crazy Cupid Love-ish and the following four are Blair's point of view from Cross Rhodes on. Date: 2012-03-09 02:18 am (UTC)okay so, let's address this right out of the gate: i'm in this ship for blair waldorf. i mean, dan is interesting-ish and delightful around blair even though he's an ass, but blair. my love. my queen. my everything. and blair's entire life has been in the hands of others for basically the span of this entire series. she went from being nate's destiny to being chuck's destiny to being louis' princess and in all of this, i'm just screaming, what do you want? what do you want your fate to be, blair?!
and in the last episode, blair was finally free, finally fully aware of the story happening around her and faced with a choice. and she could have had chuck and she could have been alone and she chose dan. she CHOSE him. AGENCY AGENCY AGENCY. all i have ever wanted is for blair to do something not because someone else wanted her to or for a scheme but because she wanted it. she wanted this. she wanted dan humphrey. AND THIS MIX HAS SO MUCH AGENCY ALL UP IN IT THAT IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!

you're too good at this, elyssa. i'm freaking out. i'm freaking out over these two and everything they mean for blair. because this wasn't blair drunkenly losing her virginity to someone in the back of a limo. this was blair thinking and having other choices and weighing the options and realizing that dan humphrey has her heart and acting on it, even though he's humphrey, even though he's brooklyn and has terrible muppet hair. because he loves her for her, every part of her, because he thinks she deserves to be with someone who makes her happy, because she wants the same for him, because HE HAS SOMEHOW BECOME HER CONSTANT.
i just can't with these two. you'll still have me. crying about it. you'll still have me.

Date: 2012-03-09 02:30 am (UTC)that's the thing with this ship — i walked into it because of faces and i've walked out being this raging blair waldorf stan and i almost want to watch this show from the beginning and watch what happens but i don't know if i could do this to myself. but yes, this is a mix about a ship that is about agency completely and that's why they're perfect gold stars forever otp. hence my tags collapse earlier this week (http://demarches.tumblr.com/post/18748124734). this is a ship about what happens when blair waldorf has all the choices in her life she could want and she chooses something because she wants it, not because other people are begging her for it or because she's trying to win a game or act out a part in a movie. she wants it. she wants him. and he didn't connive for it, she just wants him because he was honest with her and he loves her just as she is and how many men have done that. and i can't wait — CANNOT WAIT — until he tells her he loves her because grace my face is going to melt off. because to get chuck to say that to her was SUCH AN ORDEAL and he was the biggest dick about it and with dan it's going to be so fucking easy, like he's going to look at her over waffles or some shit and said 'i love you. don't worry about it. can you pass me the syrup?' and they'll go about their brunch date and she won't say it back because she doesn't have to and these things take time and she's still catching up to the year of admitted-to feelings that dan has but she'll get there eventually and when she tells him someday it's going to be for her and i'm spiraling

i'm not sure what it says about me, but so many people i know have commented on my ships of late to remind me that everything i ship is doomed. common theme in my life, yes, but it seems to be a subject of conversation more often these days. maybe because i'm spiraling and people are trying to pull me back from the ledge before i pull them over with me. BUT NO. IF I'M GOING DOWN, YOU'RE ALL GOING DOWN ALONGSIDE.

Date: 2012-03-10 07:19 pm (UTC)I really hope this show runs with the plotline for a while so I can be entertained. I sort of doubt they will, though. Gossip Girl is all about melodramatic relationships, and the whole appeal of Dan and Blair is that they actually seem like they could be happy and largely drama-free together. I mean, they fight. But it's a healthy, funny, non-destructive kind of fighting. And Blair schemes less when she's with him. And he's always offering to genuinely help her, while getting nothing in return, which is what partners do.
Actually, an interesting next step might be seeing if she learns to do the same for him in return. Because, while it's pretty obvious she has feelings for him, she hasn't really been returning the favor. Maybe she could start by... oh, I don't know, reading his whole book?
BUT I'M SURE THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN, AS WE'RE ALL HEADED OVER THE CLIFF OF CHUCK BASS ANGST AND DOOM VERY SOON.
