Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

Harry has always been a little slow in realizing what was happening to him as it was going on. He thinks his brain just needs more time to process these things. Its times like this though that makes him wish his brain would just hurry it up already.

One day he was married, for almost 18 years, and the next Ginny's gone. She's saying that she doesn't love him anymore, doesn't feel that spark. He realizes that he hasn't either. Not for a long time.

His kids are all at Hogwarts. For the first time in a long time Harry feels truly alone. Then Hermione shows up at his door.

"You need to get away." Her face looks so certain that he just trusts her and holds his hand out and waits for the familiar pull. When he opens his eyes again he finds them out in the country with their tent. They're not in their place, no. Its summertime, not the right time of year for that place. Hermione sets up the tent and they spend all day just sitting and chatting about anything and everything.

She talks about how the joke shop is doing now that Ron has taken it over, the letters they get from their kids at Hogwarts. Harry talks about their new boss that's something of a moron. Even though they saw each other a couple days ago Harry feels like he can speak more freely to her out here. They've been talking for hours when he finally asks 'Where's Ron?" She sighs a little.
"He thought we needed this time alone.'

He just looks at her and before he's sure what he's doing, he's hugging her so tight. She lets him hold onto her as the anchor that she is in his life. She holds on until he starts to fall asleep. She leans back on her pillow and makes sure his head is comfortable on her lap and falls asleep.

Harry dreams of that last argument he and Ginny had . She's been gone for two weeks but it feels like a lifetime ago. He dreams of her screaming at him of how she was always second best. How she never got all the way in with him, even after all these years, how she was always on the outside. He never understood who Ginny was second best to until right now.

He wakes up in Hermiones lap. She startles awake and he's just staring up at her, feeling more exposed than he has in a long time.

"I love you. I think I have since we were here the first time." He almost whispers to her, afraid of what will happen should this get out into the universe. She smiles a little, touches her hand to his cheek.

"Its never the right time for us." she says. He takes hold of her hand and softly kisses it.

"You and Ron are all I have. I can't...I don't know how to live in this world without you two by my side." Harry could feel himself getting too upset.

"You never have to worry about that. Trust me." Hermione said. Her eyes staring so intensely at him, willing him to believe her.

"I know. I know who you are to me, who you've always been. I don't know if I believe in souls being bonded for life but if mine was, it was to you."

Hermione leans down and kisses Harry on the lips then. For this moment she's not married to his best friend. She's just here making things right again. He kisses her gently back and lets her hug him this time and feel comforted.

He doesn't know if there will ever be a right time for him and Hermione. He could never betray Ron after all this time. But Harry thinks that's okay. If he has Hermione and Ron in his life, he'll be okay, he'll be able to keep going, always having that hope that maybe, one day, the time will be right.
