HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

For text link:

In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

Draco/Ron, he makes fire in his hand

Technically being the operative word. ;D

We all know it's true!

Gah... this was eerily haunting and filled with tension and meaning.

it has always sounded like a promise to her, even though she wrote it herself

Oh, yes, absolutely amazing.

And I love the darkness of Ginny remembering all of Tom's lessons, especially her inevitable betrayal.

I love this idea. <3

(found this through hp_fanfiction, by the way)

I have a question, though. Is there a specific timeline for this? Like, is it an event type thing or is it like the kinkmemes, where they just go on and on and on and on (at least in the Sherlock fandom, anyway)?

This is painful, in a heartachingly beautiful way.

Even though it's short, it conveys so, so much.

Brilliant.

James Sirius/Teddy Lupin - It feels a little bit like falling down the rabbit hole. Everything's out of proportion.

Remus/Sirius, MWPP era - don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to.

harry/hermione -- just writing to reach you

The first time she writes him, it feels like the last. Only it’s not.

Did you ever wonder?

The first time she writes him, it feels like the end. And it was an end, of sorts.

Did you ever feel it?

The first time she writes him, it feels like she is writing to only person left in the world. But Ron is asleep in the bed beside her.

I need to know.

The first time he replies, it feels like a vindication. And it is.

All the time.

The first time he replies, it feels like those days in the tent never ended. And they didn’t, really.

We could have stayed in that forest forever.

The first time he replies, it feels like he is the only person left in the world even though she and Ginny had spent the afternoon together in Diagon Alley.

Now you know.

Draco/Hermione - He gave her the world; she said she had her own.

Harry/Pansy - Rain, rain, go away.

Re: Draco/Pansy - When we were young and laughing

[identity profile] softly-me.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, god, this killed me. Such a lovely interpretation of the prompt. I love the Draco withering away in a cell and being so mad that he doesn't even realize. And I love that Pansy keeps visiting him and quietly lets him believe that they really are still young and in love.

Remember, we chased toads and newts and got mud in our shoes. Remember, we ate berries until our mouths were purple and our bellies ached. Remember, we lay on moss in the shadow of a Roman wall and we kissed for the first time before either of us knew how to spell kiss. Remember, we traded Chocolate Frog cards because we didn't have rings, and I still carry mine in my pocket because he wrote DM+PP in one corner.

Oh, this whole part. Such beautifully simple childhood things, the same things that we all do when we're kids. It feels so tender and easy and loving.

[identity profile] reasonandmusic.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
This is a beautiful prompt.

Oh, never apologize for angst. This was great. I love the simplicity of Ginny's feelings for him at the time. It feels so much like a schoolgirl crush, but the reality is much darker and more twisted. Thanks so much for writing.

Harry/Hermione - fill in the holes you've made. (pg-13) Part 1

[identity profile] cereal.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Done! It's too long to fit in just one comment, so if you'd like to read it as one thing, it's posted here (http://cereal.livejournal.com/161060.html) -- otherwise part one below!

It's not that Harry's lost perspective, it's just -- it's always been the weight of the world on his back.

Years from even a single chest hair (years from being a man) he's locked in a cupboard, breathing sticky, recycled air. He's thinking about dead parents and awful relatives and how achingly hungry he is. That was that world.

And it was heavy.

A whole new life and a savior mantle and a lot (too much) of real blood on his hands and he is buckling, drowning, crushed under the pressure.

Turns out: a broken back can mend just fine, but your other muscles suffer while you heal.

When everything clears and the war is over and he's died and come back (and some have just died), everything else starts to twitch.

He watches Hermione with Ron and there, deep and knotted in his gut, the worst feeling in the world. In this world.

(Ginny always looks at him with such clear eyes. It's like a window so clean you don't realize until too late that it's closed.)

There's a wall, a fucking ocean of feeling, and it slams into him over and over again. Like this horrible journey across an angry land was all to find out that once you reach the coast, you just turn around and go back again, a different way, with different traps.

You never get to stop moving.

The rough part, the part that really cramps (and stings, and aches), is how this time, no one comes with him.

It's a happy world now, without use for martyrs or heroes or a bond made from need and dependency and good versus evil.

It's just Harry versus himself. And maybe time.

There was time for other girls, time for aggression with his bed curtains closed, time for everything but the after -- time for everything but what happens if they win this battle.

He could see how Ron watched Hermione, could see the flush flare on her cheeks, but he couldn't see how this would end for him. He was in as deep as Ron (he was in deeper), but: you're chosen to be a wizard, you're chosen to save the world, you're chosen for the storybook ending, except when you're not.

The moments were there. Easy, warm looks in the library. Passion in mortal danger. A hook of electricity low in his abdomen when her shoulder brushed his late in the common room.

If he'd paid more attention in herbology (if he'd had any attention left to pay), he'd realize with seeds planted like that, you still have to help them grow.

Harry/Hermione - fill in the holes you've made. (pg-13) Part 2

[identity profile] cereal.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Instead, everything dies except the roots and now they're strangling him.

The way this ends for Harry Potter, white knight of the wizarding world, is: Hermione figures it out first.

(This is not his reality anymore, ever.)

The way this ends for Harry Potter today is:

They're in a bar. It's a Gryffindor reunion, nine years and six months too soon.

There are empty chairs where their friends and loved ones should be. There are mugs of butterbeer and story-telling and, in the corners, sadness everyone is trying to ignore. Harry secretly embraces it. (At least it's not just him, at least he's not alone.)

Hermione is wearing a jumper and jeans and a day-old engagement ring. Ron's wearing a smile. Hermione's doesn't quite match.

When she goes outside to find a copy of the Prophet to settle an argument between Ginny and Ron, Harry follows.

If he could remember what the argument was about, maybe he'd open with that, but he can't, so he doesn't.

Instead, "Did you set a date yet?" He nods at her ring.

That this is something he has to ask, that he wasn't a part of the whole process, it's not how they operate. Not before.

"Ron had some suggestions. I think they came from his mother. I figure we owe it to her to at least consider them." Hermione spots a newspaper box across the street and sets off toward it.

Harry would never, ever, (ever) admit to begrudging Molly Weasley anything, especially now, but even before the tragedies of the war, she was so involved. He wouldn't be surprised if those dates are years old, selected during second year as part of a master plan.

It's frustrating that so many other things can change, but this hasn't. That someone else is still pulling the strings, while Harry follows limply along.

He falls into stride with Hermione. "Aren't you tired of owing?"

It's a loaded question for what is supposed to be a happy night (in this happy world), but he's hoping that if anyone would understand, it would be her.

She reaches the sidewalk before he does and steps up the curb, turning to face him. She's exactly eye level with him now.

"I don't know what you mean." But she does. She glances down at her feet and back up at him and he can see it in her face, the way it changes, just for a second, in the street lamps. This is ordered, organized Hermione -- this is how she is when she didn't set the terms.

"We're always owing somebody something. Whether it's a fair burden or not. Don't you want to just -- fuck it all? Follow your gut?"

She smiles and shakes her head, like she's skating around the bait, "Harry, where are you going with this?" She's not hearing him, it's not her gut in control yet, it's that compartmentalized, huge brain.

(When he hops on his broom and just flies, the conclusion he always reaches is that she picked Ron because Ron needed her more. It was rational to not let down the one that will have a harder time without you. It was rational, all other things being equal, to go for the one who would fall apart if you weren't there. What he didn't realize was that was him, too. And if he didn't know -- how could Hermione?)

"I'm going -- I don't know. I know what makes sense, I know what's expected, I know that Ron needs you and this is it, this is our smooth sailing til the end, but, come on, we've never lasted long with smooth sailing."

It's such a jumbled sentence, such a jumbled sentiment, that he's not sure if she really gets it. He steps in a little closer, until his toes are stopped against the curb and he can feel how she's warm and alive just centimeters from him.

Sirius/Lily - A heart that hurts is a heart that works

Harry/Hermione - fill in the holes you've made. (pg-13) Part 3

[identity profile] cereal.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hermione ducks her head and he's worried he's lost her, misread everything, and he should probably just apparate away right now, when she leans in, just the slightest bit.

He wants to kiss her, wants to step up on the curb and back her up into the wall of a building and kiss her until they can't breathe. He settles for bringing his hands up to her hips. She loops her arms around his neck in return and leans forward to press her forehead to his.

"It's going to be different, Harry."

That could mean a thousand different things and he decides in an instant that he's OK with them all. A different world, a different kind of relationship, a different future, whatever makes all this right -- not easy, but right.

He tilts his chin forward, so close he can feel her breath on his lips. His glasses fog up with the humid air. Everything's gone soft and he can feel hot pinpricks all over his body. If someone had asked him to describe what Lumos feels like, it would be this moment right here. There's a sound like blood rushing in his ears, and he's alive, they're alive, and he closes the distance and meets her lips with his.

His hands curl into her hips involuntarily and her hands are fisting in his hair when she opens her mouth and slides her tongue into his. It's warm and wet and suddenly they're moving backward. He trips up the curb and they stumble into the wall and then he's pinned her there as she squirms all small and soft and Hermione against him. He skates a hand away from her hip and around her back anchoring her to him, the rough brick scraping across his knuckles.

She pulls away just long enough to change the angle and then her mouth is back on his, nipping at his bottom lip with her teeth and she's pulling so hard on his hair that he's seeing stars behind his eyelids. It's seven years of everything in one kiss and he's grinding up into her, and they never did grab that copy of the Prophet, which is fine because this will probably be on the cover tomorrow, when he hears someone speak.

"Oh, oh, sorry!"

Harry pulls away and reflexively draws his wand, he can feel Hermione reach to do the same under him.

Neville's standing in the middle of the street, cheeks on fire and eyes wide as saucers.

Hermione nudges at Harry and he backs up, putting his wand away.

"Uh, hello, Neville," his voice probably doesn't sound very steady, but at least it didn't crack. For as tight as his pants are right now, it's a wonder he can make any sound that isn't just a groan.

"Hello." Neville raises his hand a few seconds later, a delayed wave.

There's awkward shuffling, Hermione fixes her sweater and wipes at her mouth, before motioning for Harry to do the same.

When they make it back to bar, he and Hermione are still flushed and Neville's lost all the red from before, looking white -- or maybe a little green -- now.

(Ron doesn't put it together that night.)

One week later, the ring has been returned to the Weasley vault and Ron isn't speaking to either of them.

One month later, things are different.

One year later, things are right.

&&.

First off: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Also: I love this so very much! It's been far too long since I've read Ron/Luna in general, and even longer since I read something capturing them and the pairing so well. This fic highlights what about them makes them so OTP for me. Just everything! I got a bit misty-eyed even!

James/Drunk!Sirius,

... if I were gay, I would give you my heart
And if I were gay you'd be my work of art
And if I were gay we would swim in romance
But I'm not gay, so get your hand out of my pants

Humour, please. If it ends in Remus/Sirius I'm not complaining.

It was funny writing this, orignally there was a lot more dialouge. A sort of sarcasm thing going on but it just made Blaise sound far too much like fandom!Draco. (I'm still not sure about the first line to be honest.) So you got this instead. Which feels a lot dirtier and desperate to me. Ginny really doesn't have time for witty dialouge.

I can kind of see Blaise becoming an informer because he definitely gets off on being used like this and he doesn't really care enough to be loyal to the Carrows. Not that he wouldn't take advantage of having a bit of power over her in other situations.

God i love this sort of messed up attraction.

(And yes, I thought you'd like this Ginny. Girl takes what she wants!)
