elyssa i am like, chris pine levels of mad at you rn. why are you the way that you are
She used to be able to hear his heartbeat in her head. ok well we're off to a great start, let me just start digging my own grave
That Gale physically carries that which she has to keep under the skin seems appropriate, somehow. His body is physical evidence of defiance. Gale has always been this way. stop. just stop. 'his body is physical evidence of defiance' oh my sweet lord in heaven, has there ever been a more elyssa quote?
“Funny thing about actions, sweetheart,” he says, fingers circling his glass. “The consequence is the half you don’t get to decide.” ok but here's what's really not fair. you don't get to write gale and katniss' dialogue so perfectly and then capture haymitch as if he were yours to keep. like, it's just not fair.
“If you go to the Games you can’t talk like this,” Katniss says. It rushes out of her as she looks toward the skyline above the trees. “You’re no help to anyone dead and you going down in a blaze of stupid isn’t going to win any revolutions.” 'you going down in a blaze of stupid' like, elyssa. this is so katniss it hurts.
But, truth be told, it’s so goddamn fitting that they’d bring the wrath of the world down on their own heads, each playing their own part. ahahahahHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAA i hate you so much. performance and symbiosis and stop stop stop
“I’m going to make something clear to you, kid,” Haymitch says, voice low. “You don’t know me, or how I got to this table. But I know all about you. You’re poor and you’re starving and you’re pissed as hell—you’re a typical Seam story. Just like Katniss. And I’m sure the details are all very tragic. I don’t care. I don’t care about your dead daddy; I don’t care about your kid sister. I care about getting you back to her so she doesn’t lose anyone else. That okay with you?” ok but you see what i mean when i say you get haymitch PERFECTLY? i can actively hear woody say these lines. ps next you're writing a lovely haymitch&katniss character study. no but actually, katniss and haymitch and peeta after the war.
Gale doesn’t apologize. Well, he does, but he never uses the word. Katniss has learned to find sorry in other words, in laughs and touches and the curve of his mouth. She’s fine with it. That’s the way Gale works. Katniss has always taken Gale as he is. welp. i'm done. i can't. goddammit.
In general, this is lovely wonderful perfect but also you're a goddamn life ruiner who ruins lives. I think that about sums it up.
