HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

I AM SO AMUSED THAT OF ALL THE OTPS THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THIS VERSE, THIS IS THE ONE YOU PICKED?

BUT I AM GLAD IT IS ONE OF MINE.

IT BREAKS MY PATTERNS, I KNOW.
THEY'RE NOT EGOMANIACS.
IT'S WEIRD.

I SHIP ALL THE EVIL IN THIS 'VERSE FOREVER & EVER, BUT NONE OF IT HAS EVER CONSUMED ME LIKE THESE TWO HAVE DECIDED TO.

HOW DO I EVEN WORK THO.

I HAVE NO IDEA.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN AGAIN?

IT HIT ME DURING THAT ONE SHOT IN THE MOVIE.

AND THEN I WAS WALKING AROUND THINKING ABOUT WHY/HOW IT WAS PERFECT AND HEY YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE COOL WOULD BE KNOWING WHAT WAS GOING ON AT HOGWARTS (lol conversations that happen wrt the 500 pages of camping—which never even bothered me, but still)
AND THEN I REMEMBERED THE YULE BALL.

basically:
-they are both individually a constructionfest in ways that correspond beautifully
-slash built around harry potter into roles in which they don't live comfortably
-and then he's gone and they're there fighting the fucking war together
-so many stories of these characters being stunning that we never see
-also the fucking yule ball
-so his feelings~ are canon to some extent
-and remember that time ginny turned harry down?
-that was awesome.
-this ship is awesome.
-and: scene.

FANTASTIC.

that scene on the train was stunning. i think that was one of the times of surprise!flailâ”i've been so spoiled for this movie that, like, there was obviously flail but i knew when it was coming so the only hardcore moments of surprise flail were that (where i threw my arms in the air and went OTP! and clung to michele) and "we should stay here and grow old togeher" which literally made me speechless and frozen in my seat for a good minute and a half. still not over it. will never be over it. this movie was simultaneously the worst and best thing to happen to my fandom because it told us it was okay to ship them in the last movie that contains anything of them.

hence: all i can talk about, hence: ship wars, hence: every h/hr shipper is having an identity crisis, hence: all i can talk about.

done.

the scene on the train was the most stunning moment of ginny's ever being in the movies, okay—and because bonnie wright had no lines to read.

sorry but.

zing.

Your list is perfect. I just wanted to add this:

'Had a good summer, Luna?' Ginny asked.
'Yes,' said Luna dreamily, without taking her eyes off Harry. 'Yes, it was quite enjoyable, you know. You're Harry Potter,' she added.
'I know I am,' said Harry.
Neville chuckled. Luna turned her pale eyes on him instead.
'And I don't know who you are.'
'I'm nobody,' said Neville hurriedly.
'No you're not,' said Ginny sharply. 'Neville Longbottom — Luna Lovegood. Luna's in my year, but in Ravenclaw.'

I need to reread the books. I really feel like there's OTP everywhere waiting to be unlocked—it's so new to me, but SO MUCH. GINNY/NEVILLE HIT ME LIKE A TRAIN ON A TRACK. :D
