Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

Sometimes when you're trying to fall asleep -- when you're pretending to be asleep in the hope that eventually you'll stop pretending and start doing -- you have conversations with him in your head. Conversation would probably be more accurate (more accurate for life, less accurate for grammar, who gives a fuck when it's three in the morning and Severus is snoring like he swears up and down he doesn't next to you). It always turns back to the same one, in the end.

Run away with me, you'd say, come somewhere nobody's heard of the Dark Lord and nobody would know us.

You mean to the moon?, he'd say, raising one eyebrow. Everyone has heard of the Dark Lord, Regulus; don't be a fool.

You'd roll your eyes, grab one of his hands and squeeze tight. We can do it anyway, we can, nobody would know until too late. We could do this, Severus, we can make this work. You wouldn't say, yet, that you think you might have found a way to erase the Mark, or your suspicions about the Dark Lord's soul. Plausible deniability, and Bella's no idiot. If one of you were to go missing (and between the two of you, it would definitely be you), the other would be the first person she'd torture.

He'd look at you for another few seconds, then sigh and look away. I cannot believe I'm doing this, he'd mutter to himself, and then, louder, if you manage to give yourself a serious enough injury a Healer can't sufficiently help you, that may give me enough time to teach you better Occlumency. You're a horrendous liar.

And you'd smile, just a little, and start discussing ways to do that without doing any permanent damage, and everything would work out in the end.

But he'll never leave, if only so he can watch over that Evans girl -- that Potter girl, you remember, and hadn't that been joyous news to discover with him -- and you're a much better liar than anyone seems to think, and the only proof that conversation ever happened anywhere is the bruise around his wrist when he wakes up.

(When he asks about it in the morning, more idle curiosity than anything else, you shrug and make some completely unmemorable joke about it, and as it fades over the next week you think: maybe it's time you start making plans for yourself.)

oh, i liked this very much. i was skeptical about this pairing but your regulus is so true that it made me see it. really nice arc in such a short space! last paragraph was my favorite.
