Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

Harry was Ron’s friend first.

In the greater scheme of thing this shouldn’t matter. But perhaps it’s why when Hermione kisses Harry, after everything is over, Ron doesn’t mind.

Ron doesn’t mind at all.

What happens to the hero once he has given his life to save the world but failed to die in doing so? What happens to those who know him best, to the only ones who know him?

Nothing. And that is small sad truth that won’t ever be written down. It’s just one of those things that people have to live with.

There is a house in the woods. Somewhere dark and far from the eyes of the world.

There are three rooms and there are three beds but only one is ever slept in.

Hermione makes in tea in the mornings, in the muggle fashion, doesn’t wave her wand once. Her fingers curl around the teacup as she stirs in sugar. Harry reads the Prophet, creases the edges when the news displeases him. Ron butters toast, eyes still half full of sleep.

It is quiet.

Life is quiet now. And that shouldn’t ring with nearly as much disappointment as it does.

There are no weddings, not for any of them.

No one talks about it. Mrs. Weasley still gathers grey hairs for them, sends new sweaters on every occasion, worries and frets but even she doesn’t mention it.

There’s nothing to be said.

There are a thousand ways to kiss someone. There are a thousand things a kiss can mean.

Hermione’s every kiss means I love you. I love you. I love you. Even the thoughtless ones she leaves them with in the mornings when she’s rushing to the Ministry.

But sometimes when she kisses Harry, she saying I’m sorry.

It’s the only time she says it, because for all her brilliance with words, magical and otherwise, her tongue catches on these. Ron only ever says it when they’ve had too much firewhiskey; room bathed in darkness late at night the words slipping past his lips.

But that’s still better than the rest of the world. The rest of the world doesn’t even realize they need to apologize.

You’ll get lost out here, says Luna when she visits.

She looks out into the woods with her bright eyes and the way she says it, lost doesn’t sound like a bad thing at all.

Harry leaves occasionally. Goes away in the dead of night, an invisibility cloak and a wand at his side, and isn’t heard from in weeks, sometimes months.

They don’t worry. He always returns.

OH MY GOd IVA, that is just perfect. It's everything about the Trio dynamic that I love, the way they have to retreat, that the world is too quiet now, that Harry has to leave.

This entire section was just stunning, because it's this lovely domestic snapshot and yet it says so much about them as people and god, this entire thing is just amazing. IT IS EVERYTHING I COULD HAVE WANTED.

Now I'm trying to write Narcissa/Bellatrix but all I want to do is have these three sit around darning socks or whatever and being so misunderstood by the world. I don't know what's happening to my brain.

I love this SO MUCH. OT3! OT3 is my faaavorite and this is perfect. You've captured each of their personalities so well and how they are dependent on each other--it is never the same if one of them is gone--in such a sweet, realistic, wonderful way.
