Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

Harry/Hermione

Hey little train! Wait for me!
I was held in chains but now I'm free

They kissed once, maybe twice after the war. It is the sort of thing neither of them talk about, or admit and apologize for; the first was a flat party, Neville's or Dean's or someone, somewhere in between. The second was a Ministry event and Harry held her hand in the back corner, furthest away from the crowds that neither of them cared for. She remembers that one the most, and the most still gives her a flush across her cheeks. His mouth was hot and sticky, and it may have just been the champagne. The truth is this: Both of them said, "It's you."

She is outside later than the rest of them, settled on an odd corner of the steps just outside Molly Weasley's kitchen. There is laughter inside. It's only faint.

"You should go back, Harry," Hermione says. Her mouth curls, but she doesn't turn; he may have been standing behind her for awhile, looking in and looking out, waiting for her to make some kind of acknowledgment. In this house, there is no real I would like to be alone.

"Ron's looking for you." He sighs and steps out. She listens to the pause and then turns in time, catching him as he sits next to her. "Really," he says with a half-smile. He drawls his knees up to his chest. "Said something about apologizing? I reckon Gin was behind that, but the two of you are fighting again?"

She shrugs. It's common knowledge that there's no such thing as a secret between any of them. It's the war, Harry used to say. There's no need, Molly says. It's asking for a right mess, Ron tells her all the time. But Hermione crave space, and it's stronger and stronger right now, tired and overdrawn.

"Yes," she says. "But it's all right. It's over."

"Is it?"

She looks at him in surprise. He smiles faintly.

"I mean," he continues, "I know Ron, as daft as he is with certain things, hates fighting with you -"

Hermione holds up her hand. "It's not Ron," she says.

Harry's brows furrow. She's wearing a dress and it's pulled over her knees, red and a reminder of the pending holiday. Or finishing, she thinks. Her eyes close and she waits for the smells, the pine and gingerbread, the sudden, sharp ache that she gets when she thinks of her mum and the kitchen.

"I'm pregnant," she says, and it falls, rather calmly, surprisingly so. Her eyes close and then open. It's been three years since the war. "It's -- I haven't told anyone yet."

"You've told me," Harry says quietly.

They stare at each other.

"Stop," she murmurs.

Her throat burns. He looks at her curiously and she's almost sadden; it's like the others, the way a look is all about prodding and assumptions. Unlike Harry, she doesn't know where her place is quite yet. She had an idea once.

"I know." She looks down and her fingers brush over her knees. She shivers, but says nothing. She likes the cold.

"You seem -"

"I'm not ready," she says quickly. "Ron is. Ron's mum is. Ginny is. You are. I'm not ready."

"Hermione," Harry murmurs. She cannot tell if it's sympathy.

She doesn't look at him either. Her hand draws up and drapes itself against her throat. She presses her fingers into her skin. There is a faint scar on her forearm, there but never acknowledged. One of the few and many things that are left unsaid; Ron tries, Harry doesn't, and Harry's reason is completely different.

"I'm not perfect."

Harry reaches forward and tugs her hand away from her throat. It forces her to look at him.

"M'trying to catch up, you know. To everyone else. At least then, when we were - you know," she pauses and swallows, "I was better at what we were going through then. About knowing what I want."

Want tastes terribly sound in her mouth; there's nothing bitter about it, but it is sad and there is longing. When Harry looks at her, his eyes are too bright and his mouth opens, he hesitates.

"This is my fault," he murmurs.

She shakes her head.

"It is," he says quietly. Behind them, there's laughter again. There's a roar of chatter and she imagines Ron and one of his brothers. Harry's fingers haven't dropped her hand yet.

"Stop it," she manages.

"If -"

She cuts him off before he starts, and catches his mouth with her own, opening it hard over his. It doesn't matter that door behind them is open and wide and ready for any of the Weasley family to stumble into. Hermione still kisses him.

Her fingers slide into his hair, at the nape of his neck, her nails scraping lightly. He makes a sound in the back of his throat and she tastes it, sticky with sighs as he sort of pulls him into her. They sit awkwardly, and almost twisted, and Harry's teeth skim over her lip. She sighs breathlessly, then she mumbles, and there's just this sense of urgency that she gives into.

There's a crash inside. Another laugh and if she were thinking, she'd say Bill or Charlie without trying to say Fred or George. Her heart is racing and she can't even begin think.

Harry jerks back first, then further. Hermione keeps her eyes closed. She's breathless, but not panicking.

"Congratulations," Harry murmurs.

This means something else.

Oh, my heart, it breaks for them.

So gorgeous. I'm obsessed with fics where H/Hr are forced to deal with their *stuff* as a result of the expansion of their (separate) families.

This makes so much sense considering the Weasley's are making her life for her. :(
