HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

Tom/Ginny; this maze of being

[identity profile] eleusis-walks.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Years later she can't shake the feeling, that feeling she always gets in the apprehensive (almost sublime) moment when she lays quill to parchment and writes down notes for Charms, writes down a grocery list, writes down anything at all.

Ginny watches the smooth line of ink on paper and waits, breath caught in her throat, desperate for the second that will come after next. Terrified that any moment that line might slip away, sip away, that the page might drink her words down and send up a Hello, Ginevra and as scared as she is, as much as the very idea makes her head spin, part of her feels... warm.

He's in her bones, her blood. She can feel him now like she felt him then, slick liquid warmth, coursing up her quill and into her fingers to gently encircle her wrist. He holds her hand to the diary and in her bed at night she licks her fingers, draws them over her budding breasts. She's eleven years old and she wants to give him everything.

She's fifteen, now. Those breasts are fuller, and men have touched them; Dean's dark hands were like a revelation on her rosy, freckled skin. She cares about Dean, but every time she commits a syllable to the world of written language she remembers what it was like to be full of a man so much older and more powerful, to have Tom Riddle in the back of her mind and the pit of her stomach, blowing out the backs of her knees and making her hands move. Making her do things.

They tell her she's a great witch, that someday she's liable to teach Charms here herself, but sometimes she feels so empty. A woman grown out of a little girl, a little girl shaped around a vanished man. Her mother bore her, her brothers built her, but everything she is now, she is because Tom touched her deep inside. Got down to the root, down to her soul. Left her gasping and wanting and covered in blood and... content.

Ginny hasn't felt content since. She doesn't know what that means -- why she feels so out of place in the Gryffindor common room, why writing her homework problems gives her such a dark, heady thrill.

She isn't sure she wants to know.

apprehensive, almost sublime.

i love this.

the things that make this woman (this woman whom we never meet) never cease to fascinate me. first and foremost being, of course, this.

evil/disturbing but y so sexy tho. oh right—words. specifically your words, and to this i say: well done, sir.

all i wanted in my HP life was evil ginny. at the very least, could we have some PTSD exploration?

no. because harry does not care. and neither does JKR apparently.

THIS IS GORGEOUS.

Ginny + her creepy crush on Tom + my writing kink = I AM SO HAPPY.

thank you for writing this, this is exactly what i was hoping someone would write. i think my main disappointment with the books is that we never get to see a follow-up of Tom's influence on Ginny; there were so many interesting directions jk could have taken with Ginny's story.

love this!

i've kind of always felt that ginny's progression as a character didn't really make sense and was super abrupt. this feels right.

thank you!

the canonical ginny is a mess of a character but she has a lot of fic potential.

Ouch, perfect. Dark, twisted, sexy but in a way that you know it shouldn't be. I love your exploration of the trauma Ginny suffers from her experience and how it might continue to affect her as she grew up.

sexy but in a way that you know it shouldn't be

oh my God this is so gorgeous and so right. i adore jkr but i feel like there are a few significant things that she screwed up, not least that the Boy Who Lived's OTP turned out to be someone so much of fandom ended up disliking or hating because she just appeared out of nowhere like a fully formed mary sue thrust upon us. i suppose it would have been unnecessary excess but this is why stuff like this is perfect. grown up HP (and in your words), swoon.

thank you! honestly just little glimpses like this, a chapter or two from her perspective somewhere along the line, would really have made me appreciate harry/ginny a lot more than i did. i don't even have a harry ship, but ginny is just. there's nothing there, and there ought to be.

Nice work! I liked it! It always irked me how the books didn't go into what Ginny really went through with Tom and what were the lasting consequences of that. We get a glipse in OotP, when she says 'Lucky you' coldly but that't it. Personally I think there would have been a hell of a lot more to say about the whole thing. I mean Tom said she simply loved him. It's just I felt that it happened and then we were meant to believe everything was right again in Ginny's world at the end of the second book and I didn't believe that one bit. Anyway, enough of my ranting, just wanted to comment on a job very well done! I was happy to read as I love this pairing!!!
