Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon
THE RULES ARE THUS:
1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.
2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.
3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.
4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.
5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.
6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.
7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:
For text link:
In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.
They're all uploaded to tinypic, so you can just copy/paste the source code:

1/2 There's Something In The Water - Sirius/Petunia (pg)
---
Five days before her sister gets married, Petunia's Father in law dies. Naturally Vernon cannot - will not attend the wedding, or bonding, or whatever they call it in "their world", and Petunia is too frightened to attend alone.
(As always, she doesn't want to be the odd one out - ironic, being the only normal person at the wedding full of freaks)
---
She wasn't always so bitter when it came to her sister. For a long time, she wanted to be just like her sister, able to make flowers change colour or fly out of a swingset and not get hurt. But as she made it through her teenage years, and Lily became more and more confident in her skills and new personality, Petunia was left behind, scrabbling at what could have been and becoming twisted with jealousy.
---
She mets Vernon on the last day of 1973. Truth be told, she finds him rather pompous and maybe even ignorant, but he has plans and would be a Very Good Catch.
---
The first time she hears the name Sirius it is Christmas of 1973 and Lily has brought That Boy home for the holidays. They're dating, she says. In love, she whispers to their mother.
Their father loves him immediately, of course, as he delights them with tails of transfiguring furniture into animals and vanishing food and raiding kitchens with his best friend.
It's that night that she agrees - finally - to go on a date with Vernon Dursley.
---
And so, two days before Lily is due to marry James, Petunia gets in the car and drives over three hours to her sisters. Despite the bitterness and the fact that Lily left her - for that ridiculous school, Petunia can't help but love and and want to explain why she can't be at the wedding.
Not, of course, that at this point in time, she overly wants to miss the wedding. She thinks Vernon is over reacting. An hour out of his day, one hour, he can't even take that time out of his day --
Pressing her fingers to the bridge of her nose she takes a deep breath and knocks on the door.
---
2/2 There's Something In The Water Sirius/Petunia (pg)
The man who answers the door isn't James, but she starts at first, confused, before realised he must be a friend, on of them.
"You are...?" He's hanging on the door frame, holding a beer in one hand.
"Petunia Evans - Lily's sister." He must know who she is, and, there - she isn't totally forgotten then.
"Ah. The blushing bride's upstairs, go on."
---
The man who could be James has not mentioned that Lily is trying on her wedding dress and Petunia catches only a glimpse of the flowing white before she feels the ground fall away beneath her.
---
She wakes up in the hall where she fell with Lily, James and the other man crowded around her.
"Tuneywhathappenedareyouokaydidyouhityourheadohmygodyou'rebleedingquickSiriusgethersomechocolateohshitIneedtogetoutofthisbloodydressJamesputheronthecouchNOW"
"Sweet Merlin, Evans, do you always talk so fast?" Sirius is halfway down the stairs when,
"Only when she's upset" Petunia is able to mumble.
---
An hour later she has explained to Lily, James has actually spoken to her and Sirius is showing her some charms while she drinks the Butterbeer that has been foisted upon her.
She touches his wrist at one point and he smiles, leans in and brushes hair away from her face.
She imagines what it would be like to let go - just once. She imagines her fingers running through his hair, the feel of his hands on her hips. She sits with her hand palm side up and he traces patterns on it as they talk about nothing - the stores in Diagon Alley, the hills of Scotland, what her school was like.
At one point she starts and wonders what she is doing. She is holding hands and fascinating about another man. And not just any man - the best friend of her brother in law. A wizard. Vernon's voice floats into her head: "They are freaks. Nothing more. We are good, normal people and you shouldn't be consorting with them anymore than need be."
---
The fantasies become reality for 5 minutes in the laundry room of Lily's house while she scolds James for breaking another plate.
---
She goes home, eventually. After a kiss on the cheek from Lily (and and imagined one from Sirius)
She walks in long after dark. Vernon is - for once - near tears. He thinks he's lost her. She reassures him - places his hands on her stomach and tells him the good news.
---
She doesn't see Lily again. Or James.
Sirius however, shows up on her TV screen one day and she almost faints. The man who gave her the courage to return to the life she earned. That man who gave her nephew some of the spirit his mother had. She mourns him once, just once, mourns him for the man he once was.
(ugh, not a fan of the end & woah that got away from me - but it was fun writing Petunia)
