HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

For text link:

In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

They're all uploaded to tinypic, so you can just copy/paste the source code:

Lol thank you. :) I really do appreciate your kind words. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from a horcrux fic either, but this just sort of started in my head and didn't stop. I'm glad it came out well. ^_^ And lol I am all about the symbolism like whoa.

PS your icon is hilarious. X)

Harry/Hermione, between two lungs it was released

[identity profile] frannyboo92.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
She apparates here even when he isn’t home. She’ll escape to the vast library, a place he rarely, if ever, enters. Or, she’ll cook him dinner, a dinner made with no magic, always handmade, always leaving just before he arrives home. Sometimes, very rarely, she’ll wait for him in the living room, curled up in a big armchair, her legs tucked under her, by a fire she’s lit with matches and kindling. And sometimes, only sometimes, the flames will dance as they lick the air. Then, and only then, will she see them as they draw figures onto the bricks behind them. And they dance.

He’ll see, no, feel the glow of the fire before he unlocks the door to Number 12 Grimmauld Place. He’ll secretly hope that she’s still there. She’s always there. He won’t see her curled on the armchair as its back hides her figure. But he knows. Sometimes he’ll sit next to her, in the other chair and look for the figures he knows she’s watching. Most of the time he’ll sit in front of her. He does this because she likes to soften his raven hair through her fingers. He lets her because it’s a comfort to her, to know he’s there. It comforts him too.

It’s only when he can no longer feel the softness of her touch or hear the steady breathing of her lungs that he knows she’s gone back to their best friend, giving the excuses of too much work or coworkers coercing her into drinks. He won’t believe her but he’ll let it go. He’s always letting it go.

And one time, only one time, she stays in his bed, falling asleep before he arrives to find her tousled in the sheets, whimpering in a dream of long ago. Long ago really wasn’t that long ago. He joins her, laying beside her in the dark, soothing her hair down her back, something he found to relax her sleep. But it’s when he hears

“Life’s too short to live it as a bad person Harry,” that he stops and turns on his back to stare at the ceiling.

“If anyone would know that, Hermione, it would be us. All of us.” She turns to look at him then. “And I think we’ve lived enough to know how fragile it all is, how fleeting this all is.” She buries her head in the crook of his neck, letting her hand rest over his heart. He holds her there and lets out a sigh.

“The forest is pretty this time of year,” she confesses, confessing more than just the desire to be there but the desire to be there with him.

“Do you go often?” She pulls her head back to look at him.

“Every day.” And her stare is so fierce that even without his glasses, it’s the clearest sight of her he’s ever seen.

“Take me with you.” He feels her shudder at his request. There is nothing more that she could want. “And we’ll grow old.” His grip tightens around her shoulders.

“And we’ll dance.” She smoothes back a lock of his hair that’s fallen into his eyes. Her eyes glisten with the threat of tears.

“Always.” And it’s a promise he wants to keep but a promise she won’t let him. She leans her face towards his close enough to feel his short breaths. She let’s her lips linger over his before she dares to leave one searing kiss that locks their desires away forever.

“If only…” And with a pop of lightning, she’s gone.

He’ll feel the glow of the fire before he enters his house but she won’t be there. He’ll sit in front of her chair, the phantom feeling of fingers playing in his hair lingering. He’ll watch the figures she’s been watching for years dance against the brick until the fire dies. If only…

Harry/Draco - Forgive them, even if they are not sorry.

Re: Peter/Narcissa - To Be Your Shadow

[identity profile] nightswhisper.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
“Ah. Yes, Pettigrew, isn’t it?” The voice is as chilly as the eyes that look down at him from beneath coal-struck lashes. Yet the sound of the icy tones make his heart flutter and burn in a way he can barely imagine. His name. She had remembered his name.

He still remembers the first day he had noticed her. Of course he had seen her before. How could you NOT notice someone like her, one of so much beauty, and command? But she had been in her seventh year. He was a mere whelp of a 2nd year. Barely old enough to register the term of infatuation, he had only recognized it from the relation the feeling had to the look that girls that swarmed around Sirius and James had on their faces. It had been a simple matter, but one that had changed his world forever.

Separated from the others by horrible luck, a group of Slytherins of his year had rushed passed him, content on shoving him towards a door they’d then slam on him to cause the most painful collision. Before their act could continue, a graceful hand flew from inside the room. A pale hand pressed in the opposite direction. Its pair was on his shoulder stopping the motion.

The owner of the hand had sighed dramatically, and glared in a similar way as she was now at the younger students. “Really.” She said in a cold manner, withdrawing her hand as if he burned upon extended contact, “Such tactless attempts. It’s a disgrace of your wit, all of you. Surely he’s not worth even that.” She had barely looked at him. In fact, she had insulted him.

But he had heard something else. She had stopped them. In her own way, as they shrank away in shame at her regal words, she had defended him. Which was more then he could say of anyone else outside of his quartet. Someone of her rank, and her beauty, had stepped up for him; though he was sure she’d curse him into next year if he ever pressed the issue.

Since that moment he had watched her ever step, following soundlessly in her shadow at every opportunity. It was only she, of all the Slytherins him and his friends cursed and tricked, that he’d redirect their pranks from. He’d admire her as she sat, straight backed, at every Quidditch match and any remotely reputable event that occurred at Hogwarts. Never did she acknowledge his presence. Most of the time she wasn’t even aware of it, as he kept a safe distance as not to disgrace her. It didn’t wasn’t a bother for him.

A small part of him broke away when she had graduated. And even larger part shadowed when the Prophet announced their engagement in the society section. But now, as she looked down at him as he handed her the item she had dropped in Diagon Alley, he felt his cheeks flush and his spirits soar. She would always be the unattainable wish he couldn’t stop asking.

Harry/Hermione, Of all the gin joints in all the cities of the world, she walks into mine.

[identity profile] theagonyofblank.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
I really like this. I like the tone; I like how real this is, and I like how Hermione - though she feels like an outsider (and understandably so), feels less so with Luna. Very nicely done.

Re: through the eyes of the atoms we're made of | hermione/luna | g

[identity profile] theagonyofblank.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
This was beautiful and lovely and sad. I loved the narration, and especially loved this line:

Just a kiss and nothing more -- but still something anyway.

Re: with beings brighter than have been | luna/hermione | g

[identity profile] theagonyofblank.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
I like the contrast between Luna and Hermione; how Luna sees the scar versus how Hermione sees it, and how Luna (sort of, almost) allows Hermione to come to terms with it, or at least see it in a different light. I like how Hermione's usual intolerance for Luna still came across, but less harshly.

oh.my.GOD. Let me just get down on my hands and knees and start praising this fic. You pegged the dynamic I wanted perfectly. Peter is such a creeper and Narcissa, so regal and unattainable. Nnnnngh. Thank you so much for this little piece of brilliance! ♥

I love that song. Not too crazy about the pairing but variety is the spice of life.

People still say that.

Ahaha, of course they do. (;

But yeah, I love that song... it's gritty.

Harry/Hermione: Hands Never Lie

[identity profile] renimar.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Luna Lovegood Truism: Hugs can lie. Words can lie. Even kisses can lie. But hands? Hands never lie. They can’t.

——

In a quiet moment at the Alumni Ball celebrating a decade of peace, Hermione moved next to Harry, for once ignored by their fellows. She took a breath and steeled herself. Her fingers brushed his, tentative. They both continued to look at the dancers, including their partners, shaking and gyrating to the band. Her thumb brushed over the words etched into his hand from that bitch, Umbridge. The momentary indignation of that ancient wrong surprised her. Her fingers crept around his and slipped into his palm. She sighed when Harry’s fingers twined with hers and they stood, hand-in-hand not saying a word.

What his hands were saying wasn’t allowed, but he could not tell a lie. Must not. Three words that he was only supposed to say to Ginny, and she to Ron. But they squeezed their palms together anyways, fingers clinging, afraid for this moment passing too quickly.

It did pass too quickly. Ginny, flushed from dancing with Neville, stumbled over to where they were and tugged at Harry’s sleeve for a dance.

Their hands were slow in releasing from clandestine, digital adultery, but Harry managed one last press of his hand, those unspoken three words plaintive in that gesture. Hermione squeezed back with the only message she could send before Ginny’s insistence dragged him to the dance floor.

I know.

ooh, this prompt scares me. i hope someone writes it!

It's from a book called Harry Potter Film Wizardry that I bought in Oxford.

Poignant and achingly reaching for that potential, and then it's gone too soon for our hero. Very well captured.

aw this is lovely!

Re: Fill! James/Sirius - Friends Without Benefits (2/2)

[identity profile] reasonandmusic.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Don't apologise, this was brilliant! I absolutely loved it and burst into a huge grin the moment this fill appeared in my inbox. <3

I especially loved all the little bits of Sirius being compared to a dog, and there were lines that made me laugh rather too loudly for my sister trying to sleep next door.

I was giggling the whole way through this; it was awesome and so much better than anything I could have written! :D

Re: This is why events unnerve me, they find it all, a different story,

[identity profile] reasonandmusic.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
This was completely adorable, and I totally forgive you for forgetting their ages, because upon reading that comment I realised I'd forgotten as well. 8D I'm pretty sure they are in the same year, though.

I loved all the inserts in brackets, which can be overdone but you used it really tasetefully and it just added extra feel to it, which was great.

Rose being sorted into Ravenclaw is my personal headcanon. I think that Hermione had just as much chance to be sorted there as into Gryffindor, and I hope that she'd be very proud of her daughter, regardless of what Ron might think about not being a Gryffindor. And unfortunately for Scorpius, he would never really be in anything but Slytherin, I think.

It was great all over and my general reaction was a huge grin and an audible, "aaaw". Even though it's not fluff. Whatever.

Thankyou for filling this! <3
