Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

When Hermione takes the bus from the highway, nothing feels unexpected whatsoever.

When Harry catches up with her in the last minute, her skepticism is apparent on her face.

It pisses him off; her doubt has always annoyed the hell out of him. He doesn't play games with her, she has to know.

She takes his hand anyway. He squeezes hers, she can't help but sigh. He's with her, can it change anything ― Reassurance goes a long way plus she doesn't mind returning favors. It doesn't put a smile upon his face; indeed she's very much aware of that fact, thank you.

Utter a few words: Come away with me. I could always use your company. No. She doesn't say any of that. They don't need her pretending it's something unusual; it's always been an unspoken deal. She knows he understands when she looks into his eyes and intensity of his stare makes her look away.

It may be pretending she's at a loss for words when his eyes catch hers too. She leans closer. Don't ask.

Around a time the bus passes a pretty village, she drifts into sleep.

Her window is closed, the drawn curtains are dirty, her head keeps falling on his shoulder, and he remains unattached. Lack of sleep isn't that bad; it's just she feels restless and wants to get comfortable.

"Tea?" he asks her. She opens her eyes and immensely disturbed from the light. "Ugh, no," she mumbles.

He sighs. He wonders if the road will ever end.

She's always woken up at dawn. She's still.

There is a coat over her; her shoes are off of her feet. She looks next to her seat, he's asleep. He somehow manages to look much more tired than her. It annoys her for no reason.

Promise me we will never look back and away when we get there.

She wants to say. However, she feels too much of a coward to be imagining a future with him. Even if their future only means a simple mental image of them sitting in front of a tent, her with her books and him with his thoughts.

Longing for things she'll never have, there it starts again. Something catches in her throat and she likes to think that she's fine. Her eyes are cheery and wide, not red rimmed and sleepy. And he's fine too, he's not cold because he draped his coat over her and he is happy: he's in the real world now.

The sun stays behind mountains; she's taken a peek, pulled the curtain.

They could travel for a long time. She's scared of arriving.

He can feel her shuddering beneath his touch, her breath ragged, her perfume oh so familiar. The fear is coming off of her in waves, musty in the midst of her floral scent, and he relishes the thought of feeling her heart pound beneath his lips. Ironically, she is safe now, trapped in the other snatcher’s arms, but that won’t last her long. She is his now, and not even the dirtiest of blood can spoil his anticipation.

His eyes take her in, amused by the look of mingled revulsion and anger in his captive as he surveys her from head to toe, noting the soft curves beneath her meager sweater. His tongue darts out, tasting her already; his fingers twitch, aching to feel her warmth. Oh, if only she knew what was in store.

“What’s the matter, love?” His fingers gently caress the side her face, and for a moment she looks confused. A chuckle escapes him as his hand runs through her long hair, his eyes flickering down to the edges of her sweater as he notes how her chest heaves in suppressed terror, the cream cloth straining against her young, supple figure. Poor little thing; she’s not used to being treated so roughly, he can tell, but that’s all right. She’ll get used to it; he’ll break her soon enough.

Her lips part and he holds back, letting his pretty little prey have her say. But nothing comes out, and he moves forward to take another whiff, breathing in her scent with a satisfied sigh. It’s been such a long time.

Stepping back, he notes the fury and fire in her eyes, her jaw set and her face flushed, and he can’t help but smile, his hunger growing. She’s got spunk hidden away, he can tell, and he can’t wait to drive it out of her, one exquisite bite at a time.

“Why so tame?” he whispers in her ear, and the catch in her breath is all the answer he needs.

I love so many parts of this.

I love this. Their formative years have been completely wrapped up in defeating an epic enemy and there HAS to be fallout from that, you know?

So she goes back to school, where she was happier, and she makes a case of teaching about muggles and electricity and videotapes, so she can fantasize without feeling guilty, imagine that she never got a letter, never caught a train, never fought a war and won, but moved to Surrey, met a boy, made a friend.

So wonderful. My heart breaks for Hermione sometimes. A lot of the time.

I think it's the ending that did it for me.

Worn and dark and just a little bit scratchy, but not in a wholly unfamiliar way. Absolutely brilliant.

Oh. My. God. This is stunning. I just cannot. I love your Harry post war and the headspace he is in and how the Ginny/Harry and eventual Ron/Hermione is bound to change them. And it hurts.

He wonders if the us was about all three of them or if, suddenly, it's about the two of them, or if it has been about the two of them this entire time.

You are a perfect being.

I love this. That's what is always so tragic to me about H/G and R/Hr -- that the bond between Harry and Hermione would inevitably, perhaps necessarily be weakened. And that just...kills me. So I love that this explored that.
