HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

For text link:

In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

Harry/Hermione

But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn't I, my dear?

neville longbottom/luna lovegood ; memory ; pg

When they board the train that will take them back to their families for the holidays, they both know that it is not the same as it always has been. Before, to go home was to go to a safe haven. Now, nothing is that simple, or that secure. And of course they both know it.

“So I’ll send an owl your way every few days,” he promises her as they are docking in the station. His eyes flick around her face, taking it all in—her pale features, her eyes the color of fish scales, the way her hair falls in front of her cheeks. Eventually his gaze settles on her lips. “Y’know, just to make sure you’re…ok.”

“That’s very kind of you, Neville,” she says, and he can see the exact moment when her lips curve into a smile. He can feel the blush spreading across his cheeks, violent and red. After a pause, she continues, “It’ll be alright, though. We’re all going to be alright.”

He looks up and meets her gaze, astounded. She seems so certain, a light in her pale eyes that speaks of a conviction he wishes he had. Belief is something she has in spades—belief in the unknown, the incredible, the absurd. Belief in Harry and the others. Belief in herself. Belief in him.

“Yeah,” he agrees, though he doesn’t feel so sure. “Yeah, of course.” She smiles again, and squeezes his hand. And then she sees her father out on the platform, and skips out to meet him. And Neville sucks in his breath and gathers his things, and wanders towards where his grandmother is waiting, at the other end of the platform.

He consoles himself with the memory of that moment—the feel of her hand is his, the shape of her lips as they curl into a smile—long after she has stopped returning his owls, so that he knows something’s gone wrong. But he believes in her more than he believes in himself, so he chooses to believe what she’d said—We’re all going to be alright.

Bellatrix/Snape; you have to mean it

[identity profile] eleusis-walks.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Amid all the tension in the air, the press of her mouth against his earlobe is a stark point of focus. She's whispering to him, thickly-painted lips -- dark green, an affectation she already sported when he met her at Hogwarts; it was his first year, her last -- forming syllables he knows are coming. "Come now, Severus. Put some force into it."

The Muggle tied to a chair before him (Sarah Dawson, 47, of Leeds) can't say anything through its gag, but has started to cry. He is nineteen years old.

Snape lets her guide his hand, points his wand at the Muggle again, and closes his eyes. Opens them. CRUCIO and there's a crackle in the air and the Muggle screams loud enough that no gag could quiet it, and Bellatrix. Laughs.

She is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life -- in the physical sense, at least. She has the kind of face that men write poetry about, the kind of hair that Witch Weekly depicts in advertisements for colouring charms, the kind of body that is usually found only in statuary.

As she leans over him now, guiding his hand, breathing against his neck, it takes everything in him to stop his blood from rushing down low. He grips the wand tighter and tighter, until his knuckles turn white.

Two more shocks to the Muggle's shivering frame, and Snape tries not to look in its eyes. Doesn't like what he sees in there, isn't sure he has the coldness in him to watch, not yet anyway, and Bellatrix lays an ivory-skinned hand over his heart. "Better, Severus," she coos. Her other hand remains clasped about his wrist, keeping the wand steady.

"I hope," he manages to say, "that you find my skills satisfactory, Mrs. Lestrange." He calls her this because he has to, because the taste of her perfume is in his nose, the smell of her in his mouth, he's suffused with her and he can't want her, can't desire her for any number of reasons. The fact that she's married is the least important of these, but it's the only one he can voice aloud, so he does.

Bellatrix plants a little kiss under his ear. "Quite, dear heart. Quite. Now... finish it."

The chill down his spine matches the fire pooling in his groin, and he hesitates. She feels it. The Muggle is convulsing within its bonds, tear-stained face twisted in a rictus of agony, and Snape locks eyes with it. He says the words, and nothing happens.

She chuckles, softly, and the hand over his heart moves to his stomach, pressing hard against his diaphragm. "Take a deep breath," Bellatrix murmurs. "You have to mean it."

The Muggle doesn't understand, and looks at him with big dull cow's eyes, and he thinks of red hair and green eyes and all the things he'll never have, and Mrs. Lestrange's hand keeps moving down, down, down, grips the hardness he's been unable to prevent, and he says the words again and this time. He means them.

It’s just coffee, he tells himself sternly. Coffee with a friend. But that doesn’t stop him from combing his hair through five times, or changing his shirt every ten minutes. Eventually he can’t stand to be alone with himself in his apartment anymore, and he shows up half an hour early to the place she’d picked out.

Amazingly, he finds her already there, as well.

“Ah,” he says, somewhat uselessly, his mouth hanging open like a fish gasping for water. “…we did say eleven-thirty, didn’t we?”

She nods lightly and offers him a sweet smile. “I was just looking for a few things in the Muggle shops nearby, so I was early.” She looks at him inquisitively, as though asking for his reasoning.

“Oh, right! Me, too,” he says, and then realizes this isn’t true at all.

“You were shopping, too?” Luna asks slyly. She eyes him curiously, then blows a tuft of hair out of her face and gestures at the table. “Maybe we could sit?”

He nods emphatically and reaches over her to attempt to pull her chair out for her; the gesture is awkward, however, and he ends up nearly pushing it into her. She sidesteps neatly and then sits down, grinning her thanks at him.

He nods, blushing furiously, and then goes to his own chair, across from her. It’s strange, now, doing something so mundane—even though it’s been years, he can still remember the feel of her back against his as they shot spells off their wands, guarding one another even as they staved off the enemy.

Such thoughts enter his mind often. He’ll be doing the most normal of tasks and suddenly he’s gone back in time, to when he was seventeen and there were scars on his cheeks and a leonine bravery in his heart. Sometimes he wonders if it’s still there.

“Of course it is,” Luna says after a moment, looking up from the menu. “It’s a silly thought, that a person can be so many different things at once. But of course they can—I said it to you before, didn’t I?”

Neville nods, still gaping at her. “I…ah…”

“I was shopping,” she says again, looking up at him. “Do you want to see what I got?”

“Of course.”

She pulls it out and presents it to him, an ornate silver pocket watch with a lion etched on the cover.

“For me?”

She nods, and clicks it open for him.

The inscription beside the face is written in soft, simple words—Remember? We’re like Thestrals.

“You still remember that?” He asks the question in amazement, even as his hands close over the watch.

Luna laughs, a beautifully sound that is at once soothing and utterly distracting. He remembers her laughing like that, all those years ago—Maybe there’s a reason only people like us can see Thestrals. Maybe it’s only when you’ve seen death that you can understand them—only then that you’re brave enough to try.

He’d believed her then, and it had given him the strength to move forward. So now, as she laughs, it sends a calming sensation through him. He finally stops gaping, his jaw shutting with an audible click. This fish has finally found his water.

oh crezia this is LOVELY i didn't even really ship this but now i do??

They are quiet. It is nearly morning, and they are quiet—here in the Room, they're often quiet; moreso and more often than anyone else, than she is anywhere else. Ever since they shook hands in the Gryffindor common room and vowed in short words that they'd keep this alive, they've fallen into patterns. Synchronous, she thinks. Synchronosity?

Oh, sod, she thinks, and tips the bottle between her palms.

this is wonderful

i think the dumbledore's army resistance during DH is like, one of the most ficcable elements of the series and i think you should write more of it forever basically

i love that madam pomfrey is helping them out, little details like that are great because i want to know WHAT IS UP at that school that year. politics, etc.

i love that these two kids -- the demi-heroes, the not-chosen ones -- have taken it upon themselves to be strong. and i love that ginny is the galvanizing agent rather than the supportive partner.
