HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

For text link:

In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

Well, I can definitely believe this ship!

It's hard to see your flaws, things that gave you such a hard time, in the next generation and know what they'll suffer from. She only wants the best for him :)

I'm so glad you liked it.

They don't belong in either world. That's the saddest part. I'm glad you liked it!

Harry/Hermione

Wake up, say good morning to
That sleepy person lying next to you.
If there's no one there, then there's no one there,
But at least the war is over.

Handmates For Certain

[identity profile] eenaangel.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's natural, almost like it's meant to be.

Handmates she says with a serious nod upon his declaration. Very rare; who knew we'd be so lucky?

And he's not sure if he believes that, not like she does. But he's not sure if he believes anything the way she believes-full on, unabashed faith.

Life's too short for hesitation she tells him, out of the blue one day. Whatsoever you find true, hold it to your chest-guard it obsessively. Wouldn't want the wrackspurts to have at it.

But the fact of the matter is, they do fit, quite seamlessly, one right into the other. Her hand, small and dainty, (softer skin for sure) and his hand, larger and calloused, (an oaf of a hand, really) fit together perfectly. Their palms align just so and their fingers entwine with no difficulty. His thumb can easily skim over her knuckles and when they're pressed together, faint scars proclaim that both 'must not tell lies'.

It's impossible not to tell lies she laments on some random summer day, stretched out on her stomach, hands folded to create a rest for her chin as she gazes out across fields of grass. No one can be completely honest. How ever would we avoid hurting people's feelings? Or ever have surprises? It'd be a dreary sort of world with no surprises.

But perhaps this handmate concept has some truth to it, for he knows his is ever gravitating towards hers. He'll be sitting with his friends, having lunch and chatting, and never realize until he stands up that the two hands had found each other again. There's never a question when they do, though, because it seems a shame to separate a pair that seem so committed to each other.

Have you ever seen a heartbroken hand? It just hangs from your wrist, full of despair and breathy sighs. It's a pitiful sight.

He doesn't know if his would ever sigh, oh but it would twitch and tremble so when it sees its mate in the company of another.

Jealous hands? she asks with an arched eyebrow, corner of her lips struggling not to curve upwards. That seems so contrary to their nature. Are you sure you aren't projecting a tad bit?

He's fairly certain the poor thing would go mad if it never touched its mate again. The thought of a crazy hand, driven mad with longing and bitterness, is quite frightening.

Yes, it does sound terrifying, she sighs, shivering while his lips commence an exploration of her collarbone. It would be such a tragic hand-my heart breaks at the thought.

One day, entirely of its own accord (he'll insist on it if she asks), his hand reaches out, an circular object wielded firmly in its fingers. It slips it onto her hand quietly, smoothly, so that the fingers have no indication of what is coming until it is already there. A silver and gold band, the metals entwined together as the handmates usually are.

Well, it's a persistent hand, isn't it? she laughs, large silver-grey eyes blinking rapidly, as if to ward off tears. It's awfully romatic for just a hand.

He admits then, under the spell of her smile and flushed cheeks, that he might have helped pick out the ring.

Aahh . . . That explains everything.

Their hands join quickly, fingers gripping the other in joy and the slightest traces of anxiety. He can spare them no thoughts, not a worry, because her lips are on his and her scent is in his nose, and his arms can never be full enough of her.

one.

Sometimes, in quiet moments, he misses her so much that he imagines her there.

The quick tones of her voice, multi-syllable words flying by too fast to catch them, her messy-curly-frizzy-pretty hair and the way she’d brush it one million times before bed like a princess out of a fairytale, the comfortable way she could carry several books in the crook of her elbow, the shape (and taste and feel) of her pink mouth.

She’s excellent company and he’s probably certifiably crazy but seven years, you know? Seven years of her ideas shaping his future and her hand learning its way comfortably into his and the war to end all wars; he’ll never known another girl – woman – the way he knows her.

two.

He misses Ron, deeply and permanently, but it’s different. They are cemented: best friends, always, without question. Wherever they finish, they can begin again at that exact point.

It’s different with Hermione – or rather, it’s different without her. There are no grand gestures but there are assumptions, assumptions that everyone seems to hold, assumptions that she will marry his best friend, live her life with Ron ever after, have his children and be his wife. It will be cemented.

And Harry will be left with should’ve-been, could’ve-been, would’ve-been…

Almost was.

three.

Hermione Granger has a new last name and blonder hair the next time he sees her in the flesh. He thinks her eyes are paler and her wrists are thinner, or maybe the Hermione of his memories is always from the Hogwarts-years, a little younger and a little more certain.

“D’you know something?” she says, when they find themselves in an empty room.

The Hermione who lurks at the corners of his vision answers for him and he steals her words. “I know many things,” he teases.

She smacks him gently upside the head and he wishes she’d touch him again. Her eyebrows lift conspiratorially, “Rita Skeeter’s still convinced we’re having a mad love affair.”

He raises his eyebrows, too, and mutters, “Lunacy, eh?”

In the room’s soft light her smile looks like a secret and she leans back to sit comfortably next to him. “Something along those lines,” she whispers, and seven years, you know? Seven years. It’s so easy now to hear the words she leaves unsaid.

end.

This is gorgeous and sad and perfect. I love the way you've set this up and your prose is just stunning. There are so many lines I'd love to point out to you, but it'd end up being practically the entire thing. This is just...lovely.

Anniversary

[identity profile] eenaangel.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
He'll find her out there, once a year, without fail. Hands full of flowers, eyes full of tears, and a smile of gratitude that could a whole city for weeks.

D. O. B. B. Y. she traces the letters with her fingers before brushing her entire hand across the other half. A Free Elf. A Brave Elf. A Kind Elf. And a Hero among men.

She adds something new almost every year.

Her consistency, she insists, is due to his great sacrifice. A life given freely to save hers-something that humbles her and frightens her terribly.

I should hate for it to become a habit.

He tells her not to worry, that Dobby came for his friends. That's what friends do for one another.

It's not the strength of friendship that scares me, she admits, arranging the flowers around his grave into tidy bouquets of wilting petals and fresh blooms. It's the idea that a time will come again, where friendship needs to be that strong.

He doesn't want her to think that; he would prefer it if her thoughts were kept to nargles, wrackspurts, and snorkacks. If he keeps a close eye, no harm can come to her while she chases her imaginary friends across the world. He just doesn't want to see the light in those eyes dim, to see those eyelids droop with sadness, when her mind turns to thoughts of the basement. It makes him remember how long she was there, at the mercy of her enemies. It makes him remember that there are things she lies about and hides from him-things she's afraid will hurt him too deeply to know.

I wasn't there because of you, she assures him, snuggled up against his side, sweat still drying on their naked bodies. I was there because of me.

And what of him? What of Dobby? And Remus, and Tonks, and Colin, and Fred, and-

We have a memorial for them, Harry. You don't need to carry their names around your neck to make sure you never forget.

And why, then, does she go, once a year, on that same day?

Because he was a friend, she says simply. We need time to catch up.

It's more than that. It's a thank you, for rescuing her from that place.

Oh Harry! Dobby freed me from that place; you were always the one that rescued me from it.

Ugh, I adore your writing, every line screams perfection. I adore how you write them, muted and yet undeniable. This was gutting and gorgeous and so very inevitable!

Thank you for writing this. <3

Oh dear. It would be so painful for it to happen like this. But this was amazing - the imagery, the fear, the intimacy between them!

Hermione turned her head to look at him, quiet fear and even quieter hope living in her gaze.
Slayed me, i kid you not.

Thank you for writing this! <3

God, I dont have the words to describe the distress and agitation this caused in me. I want to weep at how fucking perfect this was. Your writing is stirring and utterly, utterly beautiful! I will be coming back to read this again and again.

Harry and Hermione--a hot affair waiting to happen!

Seriously, this was lovely. I loved the sadness and the longing in it, the both of them asking for just a few more minutes of peace and time together. Beautiful.
