HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

For text link:

In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

They're all uploaded to tinypic, so you can just copy/paste the source code:

Re: I am outside; harry/hermione, pg

You have seriously slain me with this fic. Whenever I read your work I am reminded overwhelmingly of how amazing this ship is.

This is my favorite part:
The silence of his private conversations with Hermione. The silence of his fingers lingering on her skin for one second too long, forbidden, irresistible. He misses the silence of her big glassy eyes, the silence of her sadness, the silence of the way they sometimes looked at each other. She misses the silence of their wonder, the silence of words left unsaid—words left forever unsaid. The silence very rarely broken—once by an insane painful wish.

And then this is made me want to cry
A new bad habit he can't shake off, any more than he can shake off the shadow of her back, so soft beneath his trembling hands, walking away from him, leaving him behind, standing alone at the edge of a precipice, wanting (even for just one second, he lies he lies he lies) the only thing in the world he is forbidden to want.

oh my word *clutches heart*

WHY NERVOUS IT WAS SO GOOD. PERFECT STUNNING FLAWLESS.

[identity profile] eleusis-walks.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
i may yet! i am working on a different unfilled prompt first though. your prompts are fabulous, by the way, do not be concerned that people won't fill them. people will.

[identity profile] ohdelighted.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
♥! i do look forward to it if you decide to.

i will probably go leave a bunch more. sideline obscure ships with lyrical prompts are my favorites, and i'm glad you enjoy them.

[identity profile] eleusis-walks.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
i left like approximately eight thousand so i approve of people leaving zillions of prompts. sideline obscure ships are best ships, also.

hahaha ty!

i have not read the books in SO. LONG. and all of the canon is jumbled up in my head so i was like yegads.

whoaaa the last line killed me. i LOVE this.

[identity profile] ohdelighted.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
♥ I told you leaving lots of prompts would be worth it!

I am really really glad you like this though. I've honestly never written anything for either character so it was a bit of a challenge. fun, though.

[identity profile] ohdelighted.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
thank you very much!

[identity profile] ohdelighted.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't sure if the ending would fit - I'm glad it did! thank you for reading!

Oh god. No words right now.

All I can say is that I'm a huge fan of your work, but this is one of my favorite pieces that you've ever done and that's saying something!

Love's First Downfall, Neville/Ginny

[personal profile] infinitegraces 2010-11-25 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
He could never resent them for anything.

Up until this moment, envy had never been a factor in their friendships, but they say relationships change unexpectedly, and Neville knows, this is one of those moments.

On this night, Neville Longbottom knows what it feels like to envy Harry Potter. And it’s not for the reason most people envy Harry, either—Neville would never be comfortable with his life being in the spotlight the way Harry’s is—but because Harry gets to do the one thing Neville would willingly sacrifice everything for. Harry gets to be with her.

The envy wouldn’t be so bad, except that Neville knows.

Neville knows that despite her feelings, Harry only just started noticing her this year; Neville had noticed her on her first day at Hogwarts.

Neville knows that the only reason Harry ever contemplated asking her to the Yule Ball was because he was out of time (options). Neville, in a spot of luck, had successfully asked and secured her hand as his own date a few days prior, never mind that she was the second girl he had asked—she made him nervous even then.

-

He catches her alone the next morning, at breakfast. Her eyes are alight with joy; her countenance is that of someone who had received everything she’d ever wanted.

He supposes that at the time, she has. Amazingly, he gets through that conversation without her noticing the way he almost scowls every time she mentions the previous night’s events—and usually she is the first to notice when something is bothering him.

The remainder of the year, he endures in silence and solitude, and when he notices the round heat in his pocket, he answers its call. Throughout the entire debacle, his mind is always at least partially focused on her, though he must also help her (and Ron) keep watch around the Room of Requirement.

The summer starts earlier than usual. With the way things are, his old habit of writing her letters over break ceases; the danger of his letters being intercepted is too great for him to chance, especially for her. He would never forgive himself if anything happens to her because of him.

-

They return to school without their old leaders. He keeps her busy, knowing it’s the only thing that will keep her from worrying about Harry.

One evening, there isn’t enough to do.

He can’t recall which one of them moves first.

All he knows, is that whether or not he ever tells her verbally, she will always have the physical memory that he, Neville Longbottom, loves her—that he loved her first.

And in that moment, nobody else exists.

In that moment, she acknowledges no other love—she, the only person he could ever practice the greatest betrayal for, and his sweetest downfall.

this is such a perfect prompt for Harry.Hermione

One Night

[identity profile] eenaangel.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
By day, she`s like a blurry photograph-there, but not in focus. Who really sees her, as she walks to and fro? She's there, because she has always been there-but she feels so thin that she's almost transparent. Who has time for her, in the day, when the ugly truths are so much easier to see?

By day, she has purpose, a mission, and being overlooked is a blessing. She loves that she can go as she is, radish earrings and bottlecap necklace and all, and still blend into the background. Is that acceptance or tolerance? She's not sure which is true (or which is worse).

By day, she is a friend. There with warm smiles and pearls of wisdom wrapped in riddles covered in conundrums. Her touch is welcome, it is healing, and she takes it in from them and buries it somewhere deep inside. In the daylight, she comforts and soothes away other's pain while her own festers below the skin (see what an actress she's become?).

At night, there are shadows, but no cover. When the moon is out, when the world is dark, he traces the scars along her back with a single finger. Lazily, focused, slowly, rushed, softly, and roughly-his touch changes with every curve he skims. He traces and traces, until they are done. He asks as he goes, where this one came from, who held the blade for this one. After, he follows his finger with his lips, chapped and cracked flesh that feels like healing balm on her marred flesh.

When he takes her, it's mind-numbingly beautiful, heart-breakingly fulfilling, and always from behind. He's a giant, covers her tiny frame with his much larger one. He pushes in and out, hands running up along her sides and over her breasts with fierce determination. She moans for him, keens loud and long from somewhere deep in her throat. She makes so much noise, sounds that would shock the others with their vehemence, with their volume.

One night, he swears, they'll do this face-to-face. She covers her chest with the blanket, hugs it obsessively, hiding the true battle wounds from his sight.

One night, he swears.

Never, she replies.

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS. HER TRAINING HIM TO KILL. OF COURSE SHE WOULD.
