Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

When you were eight and he was nine you said you’d follow him everywhere, and years later though he might not notice it you haven’t broken your promise. It would be impossible to keep yourself away from him, your brother, the way he laughs and resigns himself to the house each winter and sits watching you play piano in the parlor. He’s in the garden with tea on a mismatched saucer and a blank piece of parchment and you bring him a clementine. He taught you how to peel them in one unbroken strip that looks like an elephant, a long time ago. The thought of life without him won’t take hold in your mind, though you know what he’s planning, know the theory of it, as though you read it somewhere. You sit across from him and slot your fingers into the wrought iron tabletop, whitewashed and chipping and cold.

There isn’t much to say anymore but even as that pains you it doesn’t mean you care less to look at him, to study his features and reel at how well you know them, as well as you know your own or better, so well it’s just a circumstance. Sirius is the only true thing you’ve ever known at all. You say that, out loud, and he smiles lopsided and hands you a piece of orange. Regulus, he says, you’re a strange one.

But he slips into your room that night like he always does, holds your face between his shallow palms and looks at you long and hard, like he can stare the resolution right out of you, like it might stop your paths diverging. Anchored to him as you are you know it won’t last. And he breathes out slowly (like he always does) and kisses you (like always) and runs his fingertips over your brow, the ridge of your cheek, your collarbones. This is so familiar as to feel expected, his presence swallowing yours, the tenor of his breathing and the way he says your name. Losing him is an impossibility – you think it over and over again, trying to imagine him not being curled against you in your bed right now, trying to picture each touch disappearing as it falls on your skin. You’re drowning in the idea of his absence, the charcoal dark of the room closing in airlessly and obscuring him.

When he asks you, whispering out of the shadows, what’s wrong? you only sigh and shake your head. Just a little longer, now, you think as you kiss his shoulder. Just a little longer to stay a part of him.
