HARRY POTTER NON-CANON SHIPS COMMENT FICATHON

Banner by [livejournal.com profile] operatingroom

Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon

THE RULES ARE THUS:

1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.

2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.

3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.

4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.

5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.

6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.

7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:

For text link:

In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

They're all uploaded to tinypic, so you can just copy/paste the source code:

I love this. Ginny/Neville makes SO MUCH SENSE to me, and all of a sudden I'm dying to read more fic about their time at Hogwarts during DH.

Great work. <3

Tom/Ginny; this maze of being

[identity profile] eleusis-walks.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Years later she can't shake the feeling, that feeling she always gets in the apprehensive (almost sublime) moment when she lays quill to parchment and writes down notes for Charms, writes down a grocery list, writes down anything at all.

Ginny watches the smooth line of ink on paper and waits, breath caught in her throat, desperate for the second that will come after next. Terrified that any moment that line might slip away, sip away, that the page might drink her words down and send up a Hello, Ginevra and as scared as she is, as much as the very idea makes her head spin, part of her feels... warm.

He's in her bones, her blood. She can feel him now like she felt him then, slick liquid warmth, coursing up her quill and into her fingers to gently encircle her wrist. He holds her hand to the diary and in her bed at night she licks her fingers, draws them over her budding breasts. She's eleven years old and she wants to give him everything.

She's fifteen, now. Those breasts are fuller, and men have touched them; Dean's dark hands were like a revelation on her rosy, freckled skin. She cares about Dean, but every time she commits a syllable to the world of written language she remembers what it was like to be full of a man so much older and more powerful, to have Tom Riddle in the back of her mind and the pit of her stomach, blowing out the backs of her knees and making her hands move. Making her do things.

They tell her she's a great witch, that someday she's liable to teach Charms here herself, but sometimes she feels so empty. A woman grown out of a little girl, a little girl shaped around a vanished man. Her mother bore her, her brothers built her, but everything she is now, she is because Tom touched her deep inside. Got down to the root, down to her soul. Left her gasping and wanting and covered in blood and... content.

Ginny hasn't felt content since. She doesn't know what that means -- why she feels so out of place in the Gryffindor common room, why writing her homework problems gives her such a dark, heady thrill.

She isn't sure she wants to know.

James Sirius/Teddy Lupin

I'm a war of head versus heart
And it's always this way
My head is weak, my heart always speaks
Before I know what it will say

apprehensive, almost sublime.

i love this.

the things that make this woman (this woman whom we never meet) never cease to fascinate me. first and foremost being, of course, this.

evil/disturbing but y so sexy tho. oh right—words. specifically your words, and to this i say: well done, sir.

Thank you. (And—right? I was honestly never one of those people who complained about the 500 Pages of Camping, but even so: there are big things going on at Hogwarts and as a reader I'd love to spend time there.)

all i wanted in my HP life was evil ginny. at the very least, could we have some PTSD exploration?

no. because harry does not care. and neither does JKR apparently.

I know, right?! I also had no complaints about the camping, but the idea of Ginny and Neville and everyone left to their own devices -- fighting these smaller battles and forming bonds that the Trio have no part in -- that shiz is SO FASCINATING.

Re: Harry/Hermione - upon an open window

[identity profile] poppypickle.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
For a moment, they stand like this. It's not sensible and then it is; there are no thoughts of what's waiting at home, the expected decisions and the impulsive sense of indecision that haunts her in every way.

This kills me. I love the idea of this moment of escape from real life for them. And it makes so much sense to me that Harry would be a part of her return to her parents.

Neville/Ginny - False Bravado, PG

[personal profile] infinitegraces 2010-11-24 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
(I've not written HP fic in ages, so...this was inspired heavily by that one little bit from DH: Part 1 that Neville is actually in. Y'all know the one.)

He needs nothing other than to see her face upon boarding to know that they will be the undisputed leaders in their house this year. They have scarcely left King’s Cross before he feels the weight settle onto his shoulders—he, who at age eleven had been scared of his own shadow. Gran’s proud words linger in his mind. You are your parent’s son, my boy, and I could not be more proud of you.

He sits across from her on the train, putting forth his false bravado when the scum arrive to conduct their futile search. When the intruders leave, they both resume staring out the window, wondering. He imagines what Harry and Ron would have told him if he’d had the chance to do so, wondering if it would have included watching over her—not that he needed to be told in the first place.

He had always watched over her, even when she had no idea. And he would keep on watching over her, for as long as he drew breath.

She had always been his weakness, unknowingly. He might have asked Hermione to the Yule Ball first, but the result had become both his fondest memory as well as his greatest nightmare.

“Neville?”

“Yeah?” He could never not hear her, even when response was impossible.

“I wish I knew what to expect from this year.” Her wistful tone breaks his heart, but he can’t lie to her, so he is his unfailingly honest self.

“I wish I could tell you I knew, Gin.” I wish I could tell you everything will be all right, but I can’t.

He knows she understands. He looks at her, and she is looking back at him. He is unused to the uncertainty and doubt that lingers in her brown gaze, and knows that for all of her outward bravery, she too will need someone to be her rock during these trying times.

He stands, and her face falls.

“Neville, what are you doing?”

He moves the miniscule distance from where he stood and sits back down, only this time he is sitting beside her, and there is very little distance remaining between them. In this moment, there is no one else in his and her car aboard the Hogwarts Express.

“When we get to Hogwarts, after the Welcoming Feast, we need to talk. There is much to be planned for this year—“

“We have to cover all of our bases,” she finished his thought seamlessly, her eyes lightening with the promise of ideas to keep the coming year from being a complete disaster.

“Yes. All of our bases,” he confirmed, nodding once emphatically. She has no way of knowing, though, that his bases also include making sure she is safe, and happy, and most of all—loved.

She has no way of knowing that if he is truly brave, that it is because she inspires him to be so, that his bravery all starts with her—even if he is a coward to how she makes him feel.

daphne/draco, these webs are a mess (1/2), pg-13

[identity profile] theburningdoll.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Draco came courting on Valentine's Day, though he feigned ignorance of such a pedestrian Muggle event. His cheeks went blotchy red when Daphne mocked him for his romanticism, and Astoria flew to her beloved's rescue.

"Stop teasing, Daffy," she cried. She anchored herself to Draco's side like a remora in a puffed-up dress. "You're absolutely awful. Come on, Draco, Mother said we could have a cup of tea in the library. Father bought a first edition in Lyon, and oh! the section on Transfiguration..."

"Make sure Orkey sits with you," Daphne said cheerfully, and Draco turned even redder while Astoria tittered. "Can't have any wee Malfoys running around before you've usurped Narcissa's position, after all," Daphne added under her breath.

They disappeared round a corner, but Daphne could still hear Astoria prattling on about Animagi or some such. As if Draco gave a baboon's ruddy arse about a subject he'd nearly failed at Hogwarts. Daphne smiled widely, till her eyes scrunched up at the corners so she could see a blur, and wondered once again why her mother picked Astoria to shove at the eligible heir. Daphne had been the one in his year, after all.

---

"That was a marvelous spectacle," said Daphne. Draco jumped nearly out of his skin. "You should have asked for admission. I would gladly have payed a hundred Galleons to see Astoria slap the pureblood out of you. Phineas Nigellus probably felt that smack, don't you think?"

"Astoria's got an arm on her," Draco admitted slightly mournfully. The right side of his face glowed pink. He slumped against the trellis'd wall, his back crushing the small white flowers and shoulders down in defeat. Daphne's lips curled fondly. Oh, Draco. Really.

She said the words out loud. He looked up; something like surprise and hope blossomed in his face. Perhaps he'd expected her to avenge her sister and slam abuse at him as well. Daphne was above such theatrics. Besides, she knew the truth.

"You should have defended yourself," said Daphne. She stepped forward till eye-to-eye with Draco. Unlike tiny pixie Astoria, Daphne was fully-grown. "We both knew you wouldn't lower your standards to bloody Parkinson."

"We're only friends," Draco interjected. "She wanted to go shopping for robes in Diagon Alley... I didn't tell Astoria because she'd blow things out of proportion!"

"I know," said Daphne soothingly. "I know you, Draco. You weren't fooling around with Parkinson. Astoria got it wrong."

Her hand wrapped around Draco's elbow and she tugged him forward, so that he turned towards her and their noses brushed. Just a murmur of a touch, but their lips met in a wild crash till there was less touch and more force. It was an incomprehensible kiss. Daphne thought she might have licked his teeth.
