Harry Potter Non-Canon Ships Comment Ficathon
THE RULES ARE THUS:
1. WHAT MAKES A NON-CANON SHIP? Anything that is not at least one-sided in the books. This means that Snape/Lily is canon, even if she may (or may not) have ever reciprocated. Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon. Lavendar/Ron is canon. Obviously everyone who's married and/or dates is canon. OBHWF is canon, Harry/Cho is canon. Ships that are not stated as fact in the books are not canon. That means UC ships are good, slash is good, femslash is good. For our purposes, we are not counting JKR's interviews as canon. That means that if you wanted to prompt, say, who knows, Hannah/Neville, you could, because it's not in the text itself.
2. You leave a comment with a pairing and a prompt. You respond to prompts that you like. Your prompt must pertain to a non-canon ship. You may specify a character within that ship if you want the fic written from that characters perspective. You may also specify a timeline if you'd like, or if you want it to take place in the movie!verse.
3. When writing fic, put in your title SHIP - TITLE OF FIC (rating optional). This will help us archive if we later archive things. I don't have time to archive anything right now, but if someone wants to volunteer, we can make that happen.
4. LEAVE FEEDBACK. Comments are the lifeblood of the internet.
5. NO WANK. I'll delete your ass. And we're dealing with ships and I am deletion happy, so watch yourself.
6. There will be spoilers for the movie all over this post, I am sure. You have been warned.
7. Promote this if you please. You can use this code:
For text link:
In the image code box, you can use any of the banners below or the lead banner at the top of the post.

Date: 2010-12-06 05:15 pm (UTC)When Ginny kisses him he thinks of Hermione and Ron in their house and The Daily Prophet at their feet and why is Ron kissing her, that was supposed to be me, that was never me, this is me, this is my house, this is my wife, this is my Daily Prophet and we don't share these things, not anymore.
So tragic and poignant.

Date: 2010-12-06 06:26 pm (UTC)Harry/Hermione - Choices - Part 1/2
Date: 2010-12-06 06:28 pm (UTC)He’d long ago given that up.
He wasn’t expecting the lunch crowd for another half hour, so he was surprised that only minutes after he opened the pub, a young woman walked in. She paused just inside the door, staring at him.
“Of all the gin joints in all the cities of the world, she walks into mine,” he said softly, quoting one of her favorite movies. Her lips quirked, though she still seemed slightly hesitant.
“Hermione,” he whispered. “What are you doing here?”
“Did you think I’d never come to find you, Harry?” she asked, finally moving through the room. She slid onto the stool across the bar from him.
“It’s been three years,” he pointed out, but then he smiled at her. “It’s really good to see you,” he said, really meaning it.
“I’ve missed you.” She reached across the bar, laid her hand over his. “How have you been, and how did you end up in Canada?”
Harry chuckled. “That’s a long story. Let me make a call, see if I can get someone in to cover the day shift for me, and I’ll tell you all about it.”
With Marie covering for him, Harry donned his winter coat and scarf and left his pub with Hermione.
“I don’t live far from here,” he commented. “Unless you’d rather go somewhere else.”
“Oh, no, your place is fine. I’m just really glad I found you. I hope you’re not upset.” Hermione glanced up sideways at him as they walked.
“Of course I’m not mad,” he said, grinning at her and slinging an arm over her shoulders. He squeezed her lightly in a sideways hug. “I’m honestly surprised it took you so long.”
“It wouldn’t have,” she admitted as they reached his building. As he led her up two flights of stairs to the floor his flat was on, she continued, “After a couple months, I did start looking for you. I couldn’t stay away long, though, because of my job.”
Harry opened his door and led her into his small, sparse flat. “Understandable. Would you like something to drink?” he offered.
“Harry, you don’t need to be so…” she trailed off, seemed to reconsider what she was going to say. “No, thank you.”
“Ah, all right,” he murmured as he pulled off his scarf and coat, hanging them on the hook next to the door. He shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans, feeling slightly awkward for the first time since seeing her in his pub. “I suppose we should sit, catch up, then.”
“Right, yes,” Hermione agreed. She smiled reassuringly at him as she moved to sit on one of his couches. “As I was saying, I did start looking for you. Not long after that, we all started receiving your letters. As happy as I was to hear from you, I was still so angry with you for being silent for so long.”
Harry ducked his head. “I’m sorry for that. I just… I needed to get away, from everything, everyone. I needed to put that life behind me, try to start new.”
“I understand that now. Ginny was the one who convinced me to stop looking for a while, to give you the space you needed. She married Neville last year, did you hear?” Hermione asked.
“I did,” Harry told her. “She sent me a picture.” He motioned to a wall, where there was a collage of pictures, including one of Ginny and Neville’s wedding pictures.
Her eyes were drawn to another picture, one of her, Harry, and Ron taken at the beginning of their second year at Hogwarts. Things had been complicated even back then, even if they hadn’t realized it yet, but they’d managed to get through it all. Together. She couldn’t understand what changed.
Harry/Hermione - Choices - Part 2/2
Date: 2010-12-06 06:28 pm (UTC)“You needed to leave it all behind, I understand that, Harry,” she whispered, her arms wrapping around her middle, not looking away from the pictures. “But how could you leave everyone - how could you leave me? I needed you.”
“You had Ron,” Harry whispered, as though that explained everything.
Her eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head. “No, I didn’t. I thought I did for about a minute, but I didn’t.”
“But… You kissed him. You chose him,” Harry insisted, as though that fact were vital.
“There was a time,” she whispered, “when I thought Ron and I were bound to end up together. We gave a relationship a try, but it never felt right. And then you left, and it hurt us both, Harry. Our already strained relationship fell apart then, and it was better that it did. I think he knew that without you, I couldn’t be happy.”
“Hermione.” She felt his breath, the whisper of it against her ear. He turned her around, lifted a hand, brushing his fingertips over her cheek. “I’m sorry I hurt you.” He leaned down, brushed his lips against her forehead, kissed her eyelids when they slipped closed, trailed his lips over her face in a series of light kisses. Finally, his lips swept over hers, lightly, testing.
“It was easy to convince myself that you and Ron would be happier without me around,” he admitted. “And as time passed and neither of you came after me, it was too easy to stay away.”
Hermione let out a choked laugh. “Oh Harry! You don’t always have to be the hero,” she said. She framed his face and kissed him, then, showing him how very much she wanted him in her life, telling him without words that she needed him. He kissed her back, so giving and generous as she’d somehow always known he would be.
“Harry,” she breathed when his lips broke away from hers, moved down her neck.
“Yes, Hermione?” he murmured against the tender skin where neck met shoulder.
“I choose you,” she whispered, pressing against him intimately.
He pulled back to look at her, grinning. “Well, then, I’d say that makes me a very lucky man.”

Date: 2010-12-07 12:52 am (UTC)Harry/Hermione- "Maybe It Isn't"
Date: 2010-12-07 01:44 am (UTC)He left them. Just then and there, he up and left the tent, and she is left with a broken, shattered porcelain heart still beating ferociously as if some unknown force is keeping her alive.
(Maybe it is.)
She knows he wasn't in his right mind; it was the locket, she tells herself. It made him leave. But inside, she knows that she and Harry had been expecting this all along.
Of course, the three of them had gotten along all too well together thus far to have a flawless hunt afoot. But she always thought it would be her creating the flames, striking the match- not the ginger red head which with Harry seemed inseperable. Thinking back, she wonders if it was really her and Harry all along. If it's still her and Harry.
(Maybe it is.)
So sitting there, on the steps, watching Harry watch her and pretending not to see, she couldn't help but blow off a lot of the sadness that seemed to drift over her head after his departure.
The radio is on. She never realized it before, but now it's there and it's blasting in her ear, and she wants so bad for it to just stop but she loves this song and can't help but humm along and hope no one hears her. But seriously. Who would hear her?
One look up and she gets her answer. "Hermione, would you... would you like to dance?" And it's all Harry needs to say.
She grins for the first time in seemingly forever, and his face brightens with just the look of her even slightly happy. This makes her giggle. She'd like to think it was good to hear.
(Maybe it is.)
So taking her hands, he starts moving his waist side to side, and she lets their joined hands flop around in the air as they smile and laugh and dance with such innocence it makes her want to swoon and weep all at the same time. And if Harry wasn't currently spinning her under his arm, she might have.
After her twirl, it's his turn- and his gracelessness shines through his spin and makes her laugh all the more. Silently, she sends Ron a thank you.
She doesn't know if he hears it.
He sighs and the song ends, and Harry pulls Hermione into a bone-crushing hug and all of a sudden she has the overwhelming urge to cry again. Her head on his chest, his lips quickly kissing her forehead, is so sweet and so familiar that she wishes they could just stay here forever and grow old. (This, she muses, she will tell him later.)
He speaks into her hair, and she wonders if it's more for himself to hear than her. "I love you, you know? It's..." He laughs. "I don't know. I just love you." She can feel his smile through her skull like she can hear his cries half a world away. For a few moments (longer than a few moments) her sadness leaves and is replaced with an immense and powerful feeling, and she lets it fill her up and surge through her being.
It's only the heat of the moment, she thinks, but feels uncertain as another song starts to play and Harry pulls her back into a dance, grinning madly as she finds herself mirroring that reaction and he dips her, never letting go of her as she never lets go of that feeling. It's only the heat of the moment...
(And maybe it isn't.)
